install all 3 divx's, divx 3.11, divx 4 and divx 5 and then be able to play movies in all the formats in players? anyone have any clues let me know, thanx

You will only require the divx 5.02 codec to play movies encoded with divx. In some cases, utilizing the divx 5.02 codec may cause problems with movies encoded in divx 3.11 alpha, in which case you may have to make some registry changes (explained in a thread posted on the doom9.org forum). Alternatively, the divx 5.02 player contains a divx 5.02 decoder which can be used, and you will not have to install the actual divx 5.02 codec, hence you can avoid the scenerio of divx 5.02 being used to playback divx 3.11 alpha codec material.

you should NOT install divx4!!!

in case you do some encodings every now and then, your tool might mix up 4 and 5 and thus might not work.
