The USB 2.0 is a dramatic performance increase over the standard USB
    1.1. Whereas USB 1.1 is only 12Mbits/s, the new USB 2.0 Hi-Speed
specification used by BUSlink USB 2.0 runs at up to 480Mbits/s. USB,
standing for "Universal Serial Bus", allows you to attach multiple
peripheral devices simultaneously with automatic device detection
    and installation.
Since USB 2.0 Hi-Speed is an evolution of the existing USB 1.1
specification, it is fully forward and backward compatible with
current USB systems and peripherals. Even with the dramatically
increased speeds, it works with existing cables and connectors. In
other words, consumers will have the benefit of using devices they
already have, so their investments are protected.

    The specs are looking good!!!

But how many cache mem has the drive on it???

I should go (if this is what you want) for a WD drive with
8 Mb cache!!! These drives are much faster than a normal
    drive with 2Mb cache!!!

But remember 300 is still a lot of money!!!!!

    We all have to learn!!

The high price is for portability - always costs more. You may want to check out some prices for that unit on the web (if you haven't already) - you might be able to chop off a few bucks. Don't give up the 30-day return policy for just a couple of bucks, though.

A technical note: The auto-detect may not work on Win 98 but should work on anything later. Carry you're install disk if you're not sure of your target O/S will be.
It may look like I'm doing nothing, but actually, at a cellular level I'm quite busy.
