    WMP in XP anomaly

I've read a few people's notes about AVI's and WMP. Sometimes, WMP (running in XP) will only play the audio. I've encoded (backed-up) two recent movies, both with FlaskDecss using Divx4.11. One plays fine in WMP, the other just has audio; both work using the Gdivx 1.8.5 player. The file info shows the same codecs for both AVI's.

Also, WMP on a different 98SE machine plays both AVI's just fine.

So, any ideas? Its not a critical problem for me, but, it did cause me some confusion while getting started. If someone has an answer, it might be nice to add it to the very extensive help/FAQ list (it might already be there... I've read a fair amount of them, but might have missed it).

    Thanks,
    dave

I also have the same problem, 2 of my divx movies play in wmp while my other 2 dont. On one of them the sound doesnt even play either. I figure it's some kind of bug, microsoft's software have lots of bugs so its not that surprising.

I've had this problem on two or three of my avi's now, the audio plays in WMP, but no video. Yet they both play fine on The Playa. The point of my post is that everytime I have come across the problem, I have cut my avi's using AVIChop and suddenly they play fine in WMP.

Has anyone else come across this, or is it just my weird computer?
