Problems with Cut/Join in TMPGENc

I have recently downloaded the latest version of TMPGENc have converted DVD to SVCD using the standard SVCD(PAL) template. When I come to cut and join (within MPEG Tools..) I load up the mpg and go to the Edit screen but then it does not let me do anything (play, move the scrolling pointer) and just hangs. It eventually returns with the message that the program is not responding. Ive tried a different SVCD(PAL) template with no luck. Ive done countless VCDs with no trouble and I tried it again wth a VCD mpeg and it edits fine. Im using Windows 2000 Professional.
Has anybody experienced/resolved this kind of problem before?

The Computer Stats are like processor speed, ram , vido card, Operating system.,..............

The computer stats are as follows: AMD Athlon 1.33Ghz, 512MB DDR memory, 60GB hard disk, Geoforce2 Ultra graphics card with 64MB memory. OS is Windows 2000 Professional.
