MPC---"new" audio format

Recently my friend told me about an audio format "mpc" that he believes offers better quality and compression than mp3's. I haven't tried it, but I think it might be interesting. Here is some information on the mpc codec:

I wonder if any one here has utilized the codec. If so, please post your findings.

Yes, I've heard of these audio formats and it seems to be preferred over OGG (saw it on a poll). I'll post some information over this when I find the links.

Particularily I would like to see a comprehensive test comparing and contrasting the mpc codec against the mp3 format. I wasn't terribly pleased with OGG.

In no way are these comprehensive reviews that I would have preferred unfortunately. I haven't personally gone out and actively looked for better lossy audio compressors (MP3 may not be the best, but it is undoubtedly very well-supported, which is an important point in itself). Has anyone got links to webpages that have subjectively and more importantly, qualitatively made comparisons between the audio formats?
