    dvd on cdr

I was curious to find out if I would be able to play a DVD on my regular cd rom or cdr? If it is possible, please let me know. I am trying to get started into this for home video reasons. mslantz02@aol.com I think I got the e-mail thing right......? I think!

No, CD-ROM drives use different laser wave lengths than DVDs.

Why is this a poll, and where is the 'It's impossible' option ?

It is not impossible, and if you had not been so impunitive to my question, I would tell you where to go..

Then why are you asking this question ?, if you know this to be possible, you must also know how to do it.

If a drive can read a DVD disc it's a DVD-Rom or -Ram drive, not a CD drive.

Perhaps mslantz was referring to VOB and IFO files on CD-Rs? One way or another I would vote it close to impossible since VOB files need huge amount of space, which CD-Rs don't have.

LOL, my overlord status is merely a result of my inflated post count. And is not directly linked to my skills in digital video or computers in general. Although I am a bit dissapointed that mslantz wont offer any solid arguments to counter my point. I simply dont' know how to argue with people who shoots rockets at me .

Not possible for a regular CD-ROM to read DVD. DVD use about 6 layers while a standard CD-ROM only can use and read 1.

I guess it MIGHT be possible, BUT NEVER one just 1 CD, unless you got some special compression algorithem
