which program do I need to use and where can I get it??

try virtual dub or tmpgenc using manuals from this page.

Of the two programs mentioned by Restless, only TMPGEnc will provide an MPEG file as output.

Although VirtualDub will accept an MPEG file for input, it will ONLY output .AVI files.

Are you referring to an image of a CD, or something else?
