Converting movies to DIVX, please help :)

    Hello,

I am a newbie so please bear with me..

I have a few movies on my computer that range from 500 mb to 800 mb In various different formats (avi, mpeg).. I just downloaded a DIVX movie that is 200 mb and is GREAT quailty and sound (and around 2 hrs long.). It takes about 2 mins. to load in my DIVX player (assuming it has to read all the compresion, takes awhile?).. Is there any tool/program that I can get that will compress all my movies to this amazing format?? It would defintly save some space... I am good with computers , this is just a completly new field to me..
    Thanks.

I think this sounds rather impossibe, don't you?
I used a DivX calculator and found out :

    ex.128k/bit audio
    size 200mb
    length 120min

    =99Kbit/s datarate

    and that would suck

Hard to believe unless the resolution is something like 120x88...

Be good enough to do the following:

      1) Load the file into VirtualDub

      2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

      3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Quality is a subjective matter . Personally, I would characterize such a feature as "low quality". You can attain such a size by reducing the resolution and/or audio/video bitrate of other video files.

We'll see whether the frame rate of the video has been reduced drastically too....
