I'm looking for a way to convert my DivX movies into MPEG-1 files to create a VCD with them. I simply don't wanna do the DVD ripping anymore and simply convert what I've already got. Any suggestions ?
Bingo ! That's what I was looking for. Unfortunately it's pretty difficult to configure and the quality suffers a bit, but it does the job. Thanks a lot.
If used properly, there will be no reduction of quality when converting the DivX to MPEG1-Video CD (NOT just MPEG1) format.
After loading your file into TMPGEnc, change the size settings under BOTH "Video" and "Advanced" ("Centered Custom Format") to 352x240 (or 352x288).
If you're in the NTSC world, under "Advanced", select either "NTSC 4:3 (704x480)", "NTSC 4:3", or (if widescreen with borders) "NTSC 16:9". Under "Video", select either "NTSC 4:3", or "NTSC 16x9" (matching the ratios of the selection made under "Advanced".
If you're in the PAL world, use the available similar PAL settings.
