Help with VirtualDub

I am having trouble with VirtualDub. When I go to save one of the two halves of a movie I am trying to slipt, I go to File, Save as AVI. Then a small box comes up that has an "Abort" option on the bottom. The box says that it's going to take over 3 hours to do whatver it is that its doing (i think it's saving the new file) and that my file is going to be 30, 000mb!!! Why is this happening, and how do i save my file in a reasonable size and amount of time??

From under the "Video" and "Audio" dropdown menus, select "Direct Stream Copying".
