Trying to put Ac3 with Divx

I've been trying to put the AC3 track as the audio stream in the divx.
    Is there a way
I've tried Virtual Dub.. and the Edited Virtual Dub that support AC3
When I did it with Virtual Dub AC3 version. The audio didnt play back just the video.

I want 5.1 Sound in my movie. Everything I've read that says it does. Doenst really it just downmixs the sound to 2.0 channel. Left channel, Center Channel and Right channel. I tried leaving the file PCM or wav in Xmpeg makes it 2.0 Stereo too. I've also read the guide on this site too.. It kept saying you have 5.1 sound movie.. But you dont. You have 5.1 downmix to 2.0... And when you play it back you have just 2.0 Stereo Sound. Even the command he said to use.. Put it in to a Left channel Center Channel and Right Channel.

    Anybody got any secrets?
    thank

adding ac3 to your avis is one thing, registering the appropriate filters for PLAYBACK another!

didNT that vd version you used supply any filter?

For Playback I tried everything from Playa, MS Media Player, and Ati File Player.

As for filters for Virtual Dub. No I didnt use any filters. I used a modificed Virtual Dub Ac3.

Is there any filters that do that?

        What I did in Virtual dub 1.4c / AC3
I just opened video file.. Then went to open Wav/Ac3 file. The Direct Stream both Video & Audio and saved the avi.

        thanks

"Then went to open Wav/Ac3 file."

HOW did you open the audio file?
