    Xvid, unwanted special effects!

    HI,

I noticed with some xvid moviz I have the following problem:
Imagine a steady scene (so far so good, I can see everything), then imagine for example a car starts to move at frame 100. Well I will see this car moving form frame 100 to frame 200. I mean at frame 200 I see the car form where it was in frame 100 to where it is in frame 200 with all the pixel messed up in between like a wind effect. The result is beautifull and looks like a special effect but I cant watch the movie. I ahve this problem only with some xvid moviz. I use virtualdub and convert the movie to a new codec then I can watch it. What is wrong? tanx

Xvid causes some strange effects to me too. I use the FourCC-Changer (comes with xvid install) to change the "XVID" inside the avi-files into "DIVX". Now the movie is played using DivX5 codec, and everything works well for me.

Try using BSPlayer to view XviD movies.
Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:

Bsplay did ot help. same problem! I dont think the problem I mentioned was related to the player but more likely related to the codec or filter or comptability with something or the processor speed.

But I changed the FCCC from XVID to DIVX and this worked!! I was suprised. What's wrong ??? How could this work??? Does this mean the original file was a DIVX and someone changed the FCCC to XVID?? I dont think so! OR means we can play or XVID with DIVX????

Maybe the reason that some XVID dont work is related to the slow cocmputer. But I cant explian why some XVID work on the same computers. I checked the cpu it was below 80% druing the play.
        Any suggestions?

Try getting the Nimo Codec Pack, and also going to www.xvid.org to get info and any codecs neccessary from their site.

U have tried both, nimo as well as downloading directly XVID from its own website. What information you are talking about?
Do you have anyexplaination what strange colors appear with XVID like painting on the screen that cover all the movie?
I tried th emovie on 2 computer it is ok with one not with the other. Means the problem is not in the movie, but what's wrong with the computer? THe only guess is the speed for me. BUt the point is this computer plays well some other movies under XVID codec.
