vcd 2 vhs ?

I recently bought an Elsa gladiac card with tvout and cannot record any video to vhs in colour - it always appears in black and white. The picture that appears on the tele is in colour but rather blurry.

Anyone got any ideas how to get colour on the video and sharpen the picture

Ive tied tvtool but im uncertain of the settings to use.

Would it make any difference if the file was ntsc or pal?
