      Try BSPLAYER or WMP 6.4

You may want to check your overlay settings.

        bsplayer didnt work

i tried mplayer2 in windows\system32 and that worked....... but as a media player it sucks

i didnt use to have to do that so what going on?

Since this is a recent occurence I would suspect recent system changes would be the cause of it. What recent hardware/software changes did you make?

            i formatted my hard drive

that narrow it down for ya?

i suppose when i reinstalled all my drivers maybe i got a newer version that wasnt compatible. that makes sense

            but

i was just fiddling about with bsplayer and now when i load a file it says 'overlay failed' and then works

so what are these overlays all about them... if i can sort that out maybe i can get it working on my mediaplayers of choice

            thanks for the help

Try using an older (and hopefully more stable) driver version for your Geforce. Reinstalling DirectX might help too.
