divx caption help

i have an avi file that has been encoded in divx 5 pro. it has a caption in the bottom corner of the screen.
Is there any way of removing this?

re-encoding the file with virtualdub using a LOGO AWAY filter could help

keep in mind, though, that re-encoding inevitably means reducing input quality!
