    What is a codec

    Can any body tell me exactly what a codec is and does. All answers in PLIAN ENGLISH please. I'm just a novice Thanks to all who reply. Paul

      COmpressor/DECompressor. A codec can be used to compress (create, in simpler english) a given video stream and also decode (play, in simpler english) a given video stream.
