A problem with AC3 audio codec

    Hello ppl...
i install the AC3 codec , then any movie that needs it just causes the video player to cause a General Page Fault. It happens in all players (WMP 6.4,8,9 Power DVD, etc...).
I tried to unistall every codec pack i had, and to install AC3 from different places (Nimo pack, Tsunami...) which didnt help either.
Therefore, i can only play movies using AC3 (Die another day, xXx)
without sound, or it doesnt play at all (the player GPFs...).
    I have a P-4 2.53, 256ddr, geforce 2 mx 200.
WinXP Pro, WMP 9, Directx 9.

***reinstalling Windows isnt an option right now. only if there isnt _ANY_ other way to do it***

Try reinstalling DirectX. Otherise, you may consider converting the AC3 sound into, say, MP3, with which I believe you have no problems.

there is a executable ac3 codec file contained with the ac3 modified version of virtual dub. this seemed to work great for me with my first ever ac3/divx file. I have not tried any codec packs yet, they scare me, alot of people here and on other forums seem to be having trouble with them. all the best with your encoding and ripping.
