Thanx for your help, i'm getting picky now...i have tried to increase the quality of the final movie by increasign the bitrate it is encoded at. this seems to work when i use small test files. however when i try to load my mpeg file into the tools>>cut and merge option and then double click the file i've added it comes up with this error. could not open this file with direct show. (0x80040111) Detail : [then some symbols i dont recognise]
although it brings up the edit merge item box it will not show any footage or let me use the facility.
have had a look but noone else seems to have had this problem... or at least reported it.
