    XviD Decoding Problems

Having downloaded a couple of .avi files only to find that they were Xvid encoded resulting in a very blurry green picture but perfect audio - I downloaded the ffdshow decoder to rectify the problem. It made no difference. So, I downloaded the AVI Four CC Code Changer and changed the the Four CC Used Codec Field to XviD. Now none of my video files play!!

I followed the suggestion that I found elsewhere in the Forum and enterd a code of DX50 in this field and it has rectified the problem in a few instances but not in the majority.

So, I'm still worse off than when I started!!

Any constructive and simplistic help would be warmly received!!

Use BSPlayer to view your XviD movies.
Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:

Also search on the whole Digital-Digest website:

That's strange. Changing the Four CC code of individual AVI files should not have an effect on the system's capability.

That said, try using Koepi's vanilla XviD decoder. IMHO, it is bug-free and requires very little CPU resources.
