stuttering playback

I have tryed creating divx movies with many programs including gordan knot and dvd squeeze, the encoding seems to work fine but when i try to play back the avi file the video stutters, this seems strange as i have a divx movie from a friend ( who i cant seem to contact) which works fine, i have a 1.8Ghz proccesor and 256mb of ram and have tryed many diffrent players (windvd, realplayer, windows media player, divx player 2) but have the same problem in all of them i have also tryed changing the qaulity setting in the divx configuration but that doesnt seem tto hlp either, any ideas? please?

What settings are you using? Codec, resolution, audio type, etc.?

i used the divx 4 2 pass codec, i used 2 stereo sound in mp3 at 128kbpsfromat and a resolution of 416x314 and a bitrate of 747Kb/sec

Try using a resolution divisible by 16.

i have just completed an encoding at a resolution of 416x304 and this has solved the prolem, thanks for your help
