    Nvida

    Hey I tried downloading the latest Nvida drive for my card then when I installed it my image went blank. I have a whole bunch of files that I cannot lose so I hooked up a analog Monitor and it worked. What is wrong??

    Did you (as you should) first UNINSTALL the then-present driver?

      Did you by chance hook up the system to an older monitor that is not capable of displaying the resolution currently in use with the system?

        OK answer to question one. No I didn't uninstall the first Driver

        2. No I use a Digital Monitor at all times but after the screen went blank I went and got my old Analog monitor and hooked it up and I rolled-back the driver

          So have you now uninstalled WHATEVER driver is on your system - and successfully installed either the new driver or the previous driver?

                Ok here is the full story.

                First of all here is my hardware profile:

                Graphics Card: NIVIDA GeForce2 MX 400
                Monitor: Gateway FPD1810 (Digital)

                I went to Windows update and downloaded the new Nvidia driver last night. I made sure to uninstall my current driver before downloading the new one when it went to install it installed successfully but when I had to restart windows started but no Image was coming up on the monitor. So I then perceded to go to Safe Mode with Networking I uninstalled the NEw driver and reinstalled the old driver and now everything works fine.

                  That's all that counts ;>}

                  By the way, you have to be extremely careful when downloading NVidia drivers - they must be for not only the correct board, but also for the correct chipset...

                    Really? I didn't know Nvidia was that picky. I will be getting a new graphics card soon because I am fed up with this kind of crap, but really to top it all off I downloaded it from Windowsupdate.com and that really pissed me off. Well thanks for the help Setarip..

                    By the way.. Do you have any suggestions on a good quality card. My budget is 250$
