Philips player BLOCKED!

Hi all,

I have a Philips 612 player which I made region-free. I've had no problems for nearly a year... but the past week when I have been watching DVDs in the drive, the system will hang. If I try to stop or eject the DVD the message "BLOCKED" appears on the display. The only way to resolve the problem (temperarily) is to disconnect the system from the mains supply, and try again 10 mins later.
I tried cleaing the heads a few times - still the same. What I can't understand is why you can get half way through a DVD and it just stops!

Has anyone got any idea what the problem is, and how I can resolve it permenantly?

Since you also mention that you've tried cleaning it, My guess would be that the laser may be out of alignment. If this is the case, it will cost less to buy a new one than to repair it...
