downloaded file on vcd

it would be cool if someone could tell me how i can burn a downloaded movie from i.e. kazaa to a vcd.
and what is the difference between avi and mpeg files?

right click on the file you you downloaded find out if it is a divx , xvid or mpeg. If it is an mpeg just use "nero" make a vcd if it is mpeg4 (divx or xvid) then uyou will need to convert it to and mpeg
to do this use "mpegenc"or i recently used "vob instant dvd" with mixed results. Its worth mentioning that the vcd will be poorer quality that the original file due to the recompression. let me know how you get on.

i tried to burn normal mpeg files with easy cd creator and it wont work on my dvd player. do u think nero works better and can i get it for free?

try the demo version of nero from ahead websit and/ or tmpgenc from digital digest downloads
