Hello all, i'm just after a bit of information. I like enjoy to watch good quality films and so far i'm relatively happy with the results i'm achieving although I think I could probably make a better job. At the moment I use cladDVD to rip the VOB's and then convert them into .avi using DVD2AVI. Its the part where I convert them to mpeg where I am a little unhappy. I am currently using TMPGEnc to convert my avi's to mpeg's. TMPGEnc doesn't seem to have the facility to adjust the bitrate, it's set to 1246kbps for PAL, the format that I want to use. My avi files are DVD quality but when I convert to mpeg, I lose some of the quality. Memory isn't a problem to me and i'm not really bothered about the size of the files, although saying that, VOB files are a bit to big to keep on my hard drives. Does anyone have a solution? Am I just expecting too much? I'll be very happy if some of you could give me some info on how to produce DVD quality rips. Many thanks DJNickyboy.

Its simple enough to change the video bitrate to whatever you want in tmpgenc, simply click on the word "bitrate" in the settings and click on "unlock", then you should be able to change it as desired.Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:
