Win XP problem

After updating my laptop to WinXP, I started having difficulty playing DIVX in media player. They ran with sound but with a visualization, as if if the file was a song ( this used to happen if the codec was not located with Win ME). The codec works OK if I use The Playa , or Power DivX. What can I do about this? I quite like XP media player, and I find The Playa to be quite jerky.

Try installing v.6.4 of the Windows Media Player.

If I install 6.4 then won`t I loose the friendly interface of the XP player?
