    Resize/Crop avi file with VDub

Ok Ive dloded a few films now 1 encoded with subtitles in the black portions of the film and 1 with black borders (letterbox)as part of the film both 16X9 format...So I figure I can crop the subtitles out of 1 film and crop the other film to reduce file size...it works out to 900MB now but 20% of the file size is borders...So im assuming it wont be as easy as a direct stream copy will it?

How can I achieve my goal..(to crop the films)....can Vdub do it... how???

You will have to recompress the movie as well, in order to achieve the cropping.

So I'm going to need bitrates...etc to recompress...does that mean I will need to recompress the audio as well....or can I do direct stream for that??? The fewer filters/compression I have to do the faster it will process right???

No need to recompress audio (Set it to "Direct Stream Copy")
