video sequence not showing on TV screen

i have a geforce 4 MX 440
it's connected to TVout by S-video
for some reason,strangly enough,video is not shown on my TV screen (the monitor with which i use the Nview,twin view). this happens both in mpegs,divxs (avi's),or quick time formats. everything else is shown on the screen.

is it a codec updating problem?
is it a setting i'm missing?

help is needed and most welcome!

I wish I can help but my s-video cable doesnt work at all so im replacing it. Sorry I cant help.
