    Movie editing

Hi! I was wondering if you guys can help me out. I am using I-link cable, and taking video straight from my camcorder to my laptop. The problem is that the program "windows movie maker" only output wmv file. Gee, Microsoft tries to control everything. I would like to have mpeg instead. Does anyone know any progam that does this? I tried convert wmv file to mpeg using a converter but it takes so so long to convert.
    thanks

try using some other way of capturing your video, for instance composite, or s-vhs and use the Virtual Dub as a capture program. Maybe that program even supports your way of linking the camcorder and laptop.
If you can use Virtual dub, than select the video and audio compression, and make sure you test your settings, 'cause you'd have to have rather fast processor to do this (software capture/compression) at at least 700-800 MHz (over 1GHz recommended)
    Stay cool
