STRANGE! I can read a mpeg stream only with VLC.. how can I convert it? PLEASE help!

OK so this is really strange. I use VLC player (www.videolan.org, its' free source and good, get it) to dump to a file a multicast mpeg stream (at least I think it's mpeg).
OK so I get a mpeg file. Now the problem is this file is not readable by anything I have tryed. Some of the programs that DON'T work at all are: Media Player, Virtual Dub, Premiere, TMPGEnc, Winamp 3, FlaskMPEG, ATI file player.
I have all the codecs from NIMO CODECK PACK but that doesn't help either.
PowerDVD displays a garbled picture, but at least it displays something. DVD2AVI also displays a garbled picture.
The ONLY player I have found that works is VLC itself. VLC doesn't say anywhere what format the file actually is.
If anyone could help in converting this file to some other format it would be great.
I have put the file on my ftp so you can check it out (10MB)... here it is:
    ftp://mpeg:crazy@213.140.31.171:33482/inter.mpeg
Or if that does not work try:
    ftp://mpeg:crazy@213.140.31.170:33482/inter.mpeg

Below is the "file information" displayed by PowerDVD (although it shows a garbled picture):
    Player Information :
    Player Region Code : 2
    Current Focus Drive : G:
Title Region Code : Not Available

    Display Information :
    Video Mode : Bob
    Display Mode : DirectDraw
    FourCC Code : RGB
    Surface Type : Off-screen plain

    Video Attribute :
    Video compression mode : MPEG-2
    TV system : 625/50 (PAL)
    Aspect Ratio : 4:3
    Display Mode : reserved
    Source picture resolution : 544x576
    Frame Rate : 25.00
Source picture letterboxed : Not letterboxed
    Bitrate : 10.00Mbps

    Audio Attribute : Not Available

    Subpicture Attribute : Not Available

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Omar

Do you want to convert the mpeg-2 file to another format?

You could try frameserving the mpeg2 file into Virtualdub or try Virtualdubmod or TMPGEnc.

          Hey.
As I wrote in my first post TMPGEnc is one of the tools that DON'T work. As for frameserving.. how do I do that?
          Thanks

            Hey!
I tryed virtualdubmod but I can't get it to work. It always says unknows file type. But maybe I'm not using it properly.. how am I supposed to open it? I tryed most of the types in the "open" dialog box but... nada.

I tryed MyFlix XE and I got some new info:
it says can't open TRANSPORT STREAM MPEG2 VIDEOS with Flix XE

              So that's the file format...

Try renaming the mpeg-2 file with a *.vob extension

TMPGEnc can convert the mpeg-2 file to divx. Have you tried it?

                Here is another general guide:

http://www.doom9.org/svcd2divx.htm [Gknot uses DVD2AVI to frameserve video, and DVD2AVI works fine with mpeg-2 sources, DVD2AVI, (just open your .mpg or .m2v files from the Open (F3) menu.)]

OK none of that works. As I have said, it is a MPEG2 TRANSPORT STREAM not a DVD, svcd or vob file... nor an ordinary mpeg2 file..

so the point is to find an editor/converter that can read MPEG2 TS (or mpeg2 transport stream)....

                      Doom9 is down.

Your best bet then is to search google for "convert mpeg2 transport stream" there is some software available to do it.

OK I got to doom 9 through anonymizer but... the guide suggests using DVD2AVi and as I've already said in my first post, DVD2AVi actually opens the file but it shows a TOTALLY GARBLED picture. If I try to start the conversion it crashes immediately so again the problem is that DVD2AVi and similar programs don't support MPEG2 TRANSPORT STREAMS

OK I found an editor that reads these files and transforms them into normal mpeg2 files. IT's called M2 Edit Pro. The only problem is I only have the trial version... hmmm... crack anywhere?
