    Illegal?

    Hey guys,

    Is it currently illegal to buy/sell/trade DivX movies?

    And more specifically, if it is, could it be skirted around by simply making the buyer/trader first admit that they already own the movie and are buying/trading for a backup?

    Thanks. Serious input is appreciated!

    Definitely - it's called copyright infringement.

    If you'd like to believe that ;>}

      Has anyone been prosecuted then? And/or is there a likelihood of any sort of legal action?...

        like i said before everythings illegal if you get caught , but unless you you are in mass production and advertising how would anyone know hell i have a few friends that are the law and they make the most requests mainly for games so unless you have a billboard out there in main-land the world i would not worry they have bigger fish too fry ( i.e. .bin-laudin)

          Similar to the copyright problems that napster was facing a few years ago... But did people stop trading? No, It just gave it more publicity and more people decided to get in on their cut. I figure that eventually they will take a couple of poor schmuks, try to make an example of them by throwing the book at them, then that will be the last that you hear of it. After time the divx trading will become as frequent as music trading became... if it isn't already that is.

            Who Cares..Really. All the actors have been paid up front. So are the grips and stage help. The theaters pay as they use,and they make millions off of popcorn and drinks and way more than the movie tickets anyway.
            The Production companies get most of thier money from investors who have insurance on thier share regardless. But dont worry, they make plenty even if the movie is a flop.

            So back to my first answer. WHO CARES>>>Enjoy.

            OH NO>>because i copied a movie you made 20 million in profit instead of 30. So to make me feel bad instead you say I lost 10 million in profits. OHHH>>>you fail to mention that it means you made 20 instead of 30 million..

            Chill everyone they are all millionaires and will remain so even if you copy the film or movie....PERIOD>>AND THAT IS A FACT-FACT-FACT-FACT...
