It should be playable on any software player on your PC (directshow).

k thanks I got her going now.

The .ogg file was 1 MB smaller than the MP3 and it was the same quality. I think me and ogg are going to be best friends.

Are the *.ogg and *.mp3 file from the same source and do they have the same bitrate?

they cant have the same bitrate when ogg is smaller

winamp 2.8 or higher should play ogg nicely as long as the oggds0995.exe directshow filters are installed.

high time you tried ogg for your videos.

          it is simply amazing

i was convinced the very first minute i tested ogg + mpeg4

          here's small guide on ogg´+ mpeg4:

Not yet. I am still working on making a AVI video everytime I try to encode it stops for like 6 hours then starts back up.

The more important question is why would you want to mux the brand-new ogg with an archaic, old, avi container?

OGM is better than AVI------better support for multiple audio streams, vbr, and of course ogg audio. Plus you can create chapters as well. OGM is a recent and more up to date media container than avi (which hasn't changed much). Plus the AVI container has been known to cause synch issues with VBR mp3.

Should I just VDub for my OGM editing and encoding or is there a better program to modify/create ogm files

VirtualDubMod can Save/Open *.ogm no problem.
                              Also give Matroska a look.

Here the main features of matroska :

                              - opensource, open standard, GPL and QPL licensed main library
                              - supports arbitrary file sizes, ideal for PCM audio and prepared for HDTV
                              - allows arbitrary number of audio, video and subtitles streams in one file
                              - attempting to support every existing audio and video codec under the sun
                              - extensible by using EBML as underlying framework, a binary structure based on XML
                              - enhanced container features such as menues, chapters, tags, file attachements
                              - perfect sync thanks to timestamps for data blocks
                              - x-platform design approach right from the start

                              I'm testing at the moment.
