    dvd player problem

    I just watched the retail version of a dvd on my new portable player. I had it hooked up to the tv but the pictures brightness would fade out and come back in for no apparent reason. any ideas? its a minitek dvd player. thanks

      what is that because this is a retail dvd that hasn't been copied.

        Normally, if you have your player hooked up DIRECTLY to your television via S-Video, you won't see this.

        If you have your player hooked up through your VCR to your television (or to your television via other-than an S-Video connection) you WILL see this.

        Check for your specific make and model - and see if there's a way to turn off Macrovision, either directly or via a "hack".

        The only other alternative would be to purchase one of the many "black boxes" available (about $39.99US) that circumvent Macrovision...
