An m2v file is the video stream you get when splitting an MPEG. Sounds like a "hand me the left handed screw driver" question to me.

        Use TMPGEnc as follows:

        TMPGEnc>>File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut

              guess who!, me again!

ok open TMPGEn, file, MPEG tools, Cut and Merge.
cAdd my M2v file, clicked edit, set the in and out points, clicked ok.

Then set output file name, then click ok

The "TYPE" drop down box at the top has 2 MPEG 2 settings one is Svcd, obviously dont want that, the other is MPEG 2 (VBR)
which (if any) do i select here?

I tried the (vbr) one and it created an MPEG file, not an M2v, and the MPEG file it created was kinda squashed up , long and thin looking.

1.is there any other settings i have to set in the programme?
              2. How do i make it create an M2v file instead fo the MPEG file
              3. Whats causing the wrong aspect ratio??
              thanks again
              SI

"I tried the (vbr) one and it created an MPEG file, not an M2v"

You used the correct one. Just change the extension from ".MPG" to ".M2V"...

"Whats causing the wrong aspect ratio??"

probably a function of the player you are using...

(If TMPGEnc presents difficulties to you, you might try MPEGCutter ["MPEG2CUT.EXE"] as an alternative)
