Divx To VCD with subtitles

Hi all, i have a Divx Versions of LOTR- Felloship of the ring, and it has the SRT file for the subs when the elves are talking,
what i want to know is, i want to convert the Divx into VCD to play on my standalone DVD (which doesn't support SVCD) but i want the subtitles to work as well, how would i go about including the subtitles into the VCD to make sure they will appear when i watch the film

Use VirtualDub with the VobSub plugin to make the subtitles a permanent part of the .AVI - then convert to VCD format...

Just done a quick test, had to use the TEXTSub filter as it was a SRT file but i think that is part of VobSub anyway, well the end restult is that it works perfectly
