    Editing Divx/MP3

I have an amazing amount of home video that i have just recently delivered from its analog sources and converted em to Divx/MP3. Is there not a program that can edit these type files without such conversion hastles?.. like edit on a basic timeline and enter simple text or maybe simple effects? just curious this would just save me soo much time

So in divx i must reencode all the video into another codec just to go back and lose quality, if i were to make a compilation of that divx video?

If you want to cut or edit the video you allways meed to reencode at least the part where you made the changes. For reencoding you should always use the same codec (or a better/newer one) with the same (or better) settings. Best way would be to capture the video with a very high bitrate (big filesize), edit it and save it to a lower bitrate to get the wanted filesize.
