.avi search fast-forward disabled

ive got a .avi and .mpg file that wont let me search/skim through the avi/mpg so it makes me watch it from the begining and i have to wait till it gets to the right part, i use wmp and i tried using bsplayer anyone know what the problem could be?

try loading the file into virtualdub. if it comes up with some errors, then post all of them here.

then, go to file-->file information.

post all that you see here, a screen capture would be nice.
