    Question. Analog vs. Digital

Question: Is it worth it to buy an Analog to Digital converter box?

I am setting up a home surveillence system, it is all in place. I am considering using my Firewire card to help in sending the video out to the intenet for remote viewing. Need to know if worth it or notWould have to buy an analog to digital converter box (min $200.00)BNC to 1394. Or should I just send it into the video/capture card?

it depends on the surveyed area
if just a little space like
the frontdoor and another space is to be checked then it is a good choice to go analog!

    if there is more??
a digital solution should be taken into
    calculation!!!

You need more cameras .... cable....
    connections... interfaces... power supply
the further 200 $ will not count!!

      Thanks for replying

I have all the cameras in place with a Dwell box rotating the cameras and as the media for the analogy out signal. So the $200 was just for the converter box to change the signal into digital and that signal would go into the firewire card in the computer.

If you had it on your computer you could setup a password protected site to access the vid cams...and if you invested in a notebook and sprint card you could access the cams from your bass boat in the middle of the lake...or, if you were a business...you could monitor your employees from the golf course.

          Thanks!

Might need to make the computer a 2003 Server and buy the converter box.
