5.1 sound

ive got a 5.1 sound card and i have to switch audio properties to desktop speakers to watch xvids/divx because the sound doesnt work when i put the settings to 5.1 and i have to switch back to the 5.1 surround sound setting when i want to listen to mp3's, anyone know what the problem could be?

Use a better player. Try TCMP, Media Player Classic, BSplayer or Zoomplayer ....
