    Transfer from MD9090 Camera

I've got a Medion MD9090 Digital Video Camera.
    It stores the movies/pictures o a tape.
To transfer the movies to PC I have to play them (using the USB-cable) and capture them with the DVC Media 2.0 Player that comes with it. This takes a long time (just as long as the video itself).

    Questions:
    a) Do (freeware) programs exist that allow to capture the movies (from this camera) faster without losing (much) quality?

    b) Just like a digital photocamera I would like to copy 'files' instead of playback and record movies. Is this possible? (what software??)

    c) It can store AVI and MPEG files, what freeware programm can I use to convert between them (a.o.) afterwards?
