I want to use my region 2 PAL DVD's in the USA. I can get rid of the region code, but do I need to convert from PAL to NTSC and if so, how do I do it

Most newer standalone DVD players, in addition to Region selection, have built-in conversion capability - either automatically or by changing settings in the standalone's "Setup" options.

I'd advise you first checkout your standalone's capability before doing any DVD converting ;>}
