fit film on 1 cd

I was reading the following thread on how to fit a movie on 1 cd:

I was wondering whether this altering of the bitrate, although allowing the film to fit on 1 cd, was having a negative effect on the quality of the movie???

Yes, this will most likely cause a decrease in the quality of the movie compared with that of the original. However, you may not notice it too much if you are using a small screen. I have a large screen and would most definitely notice it.
