Subtitles question

I have an avi file and I have a seperate sub file for it, how do I play this avi file with the sub file? How does this work? Can I do this in Zoomplayer?

this would interest me also.

I have used the BS player and MV2 player with brilliant results.

I also heard that the zoom player supports subtitles
wrapped into a matroska and ogm container, but does this imply
that they need to be in either of these containers.

I was not able to figure out how to load a subtile that is not wrapped in manually!!!

to vert: the BS player as well as the MV2 player are able to
recognize subtitle files automatically if they are in same directory or cd and have the same filname before the suffix

like readheat.avi readheat.srt

if not they can be manually loaded from the menue
in bs player it is load subtitles
in mv2 player it is add subtitles.

in players section both are excellent and freeware

Add the excellent <b>Media Player Classic</b>: plays same name subtitles automaticaly (sub, srt), and in the last version you can manualy load them.
you might have to have vobsub installed on your system though (for full subtitles and multiple stream support).

Don't forget VobSub... you'll need it for playback of most subtitles.

right wildman joe and qyd,

installing vobsub enables the language menue point in zoom player just tested it.... the morgan stream switcher also does
the job.

but having done this I meet sync problems when I play
a directory with more than 1 subtitle file and switching between them.... while the Bs and the M2v player are not affected.

BSplayer is tops
only one down: it performs poorly on weak systems (<8MB RAM) video

that's not the case with any of my computers

Morgan stream switcher i wouldn't recommend (it screwed playback of multi language files)

MPC has DVD playback too
