maybe this tool is of some help since you can extract/convert
mov files to avi......http://divx-digest.com/software/mov2avi.html
in addition to that I like to bring the CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder)
basic version to your mind......which is able to deal with apple
movie formats such as quicktime (*.mov)Comment

Hi,
I hope you can help me since the 3 of you seem experts on just
about anything : (allways a nice start)
I try to Use TMPGEnc on an .AVI file and convert it to Mpeg
but I get these 2 Error messages :
"Read error occurred at address 0048EFC6 of Module 'TMPGEnc.exe2 with 00000032"
and
"Write error occurred at 77F83905 of module 'ntdll' with 00000000"
Surely it's designed to convert .AVI to .mpeg ?Comment

Do you get that error with ALL the AVI's you've tried...or just one? If it's for all, what operating system do you have and did you download the correct version of TMPGenc (thinking the 32 /NT error messages are what I've seen trying to run old programs from my 95 on XP)Comment

I'm not saying that's the problem...just shooting from the hip....if it's only one file then the file may be corrupt...try another. I'm not support, so I don't have access to error messages. But with some programs I tried to import from my 95 to XP I got error messages regarding 32 and NT (I guess because XP doesn't have a DOS underlayer it's sitting on. The techies around here would have a better understanding of this...I just responded after noone else did.Comment

rsquirell :
thanks for reply. I will test some more AVI's tonite. I have a feeling it has something to do with my download of the TMPGEnc though. I will download the free version and uninstall this one to check that out as well and then I'll revert with the result...

tmpgenc seems to have real problems with xvid codecs at the moment, I was getting all sorts of error messages and the BBS site of pegasys suggested I had memory problems which is stupid when I can load mpeg2 files with no problems. I tinkered for 2 days and then i was getting avi to convert with no audio. I now have it working and heres what i did. I removed ALL installed codecs, then installed this one http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...c_Pack_PRO.htm rebooted
then i changed the environment settings in tmpgenc the plugin priorities, boy this program is real touchy about these settings.
directshow +3. CRI sofdec +2 . AVI VFW +1. Project reader +1. bmp/ppm unticked. and remaining ones ticked with 0.
Sometimes i have to start tmpgenc twice cause it crashes the first time but it converts now with perfect sync. Hope this gives clues or helps some people.Comment
