is it possible to convert wmv to mpeg or avi?

is there any way of converting wmv to mpeg? please help I have put hours into this problem and can't seem to find a way to do it.....

ASF2AVI will get you one step closer, if it is a version 7 WMV (I don't have any personal knowledge of its ability to convert WMV version 8 files). Then you can use TMPGEnc to convert the .AVI to
MPEG1, MPEG2, VCD, or SVCD.
