    burning divx

i read somewhere that you can burn divx onto a dvd-r, and watch it on your player. no, im not saying convert to (s)vcd, but just burn it onto the media and watch.

    is this true?

if so, how do you do this?

to do so you need a standaloneplayer that is able to
decode mpeg4 based codecs like divx, xvid, msmpeg4......

there are already some players out there which have
capabilities to do so like the Yamada 6000 or Kiss DP 450,
Kiss DP 500 or the elta 8200. I guess there will be many more
to come out about christmas.... but the Yamada is the cheapest one , producing good results though.....

they are able to recognize a DVD in iso data format (data disk)
and you are accessing the movies with the help of the DVD player menue as if you were accessing a mp3 file.

I have also read that some of this players support the
micro dvd standart (not mini!!)....but I have not tested it yet
