    Playback using projector!

Ok this may seem strange but its bugging the hell out of me!!
I have divx encoded films on my hard drive and when I play them on my laptop they work fine.
I then plug the laptop in to a very decent and up to date epson projector and everything is still fine.
The laptop screen is 'cloned' perfectly onto the wall via the projector.
This is the strange bit - I put the film on and Windows media player plays the film perfectly on the laptop screen but on the wall (via the projector) I can still see the windows player shell outline fine but where the picture should be is a black blank!!
    Audio is fine
Picture on is laptop fine and running.
I tried using s video cable this didnt help, same problem.

Anyone with any ideas pse help its driving me mad and I bet its somthing simple!!

Sounds like a problem with the hardware acceleration on the cloned screen.

If possible you should disable the display on the laptop, and let the projecter function as the primary display.
If you can't do that, you might try updating the video drivers. If that doesn't help you could solve problem by reducing the hardware acceleration 'Display properties'->settings->advanced->troubleshoot
Of course this might reduce the preformance so much that the video might not run smoothly.

I rebooted the lap top with the moniter lead still in, the lap top then made the projector 'default' monitor rather than my way of trying to 'clone' the screen across after connecting the lead. There was no picture on the lap top itself but all films played through the projector fine.

          Tnks again

Are you using a VGA to VGA cable for this or something else?
