    black screen no sound help!!!

    This must be the 3rd monie i downloaded that did play in WMP but not in Tha Playa. When it playes in WMP i get no errors but just a black screen and no sound, but the lenght seems to be correct. Tha Player says 'Cannot open this location' i have this Angelpotion/Divx converter and it says 'unknown codec'.

    I have the latest codec/player from divx.com, the Divx-3.11 alfa codec , the Angelpotion IV codec, but it doesnt play.
    I dont think the file is corrupt ar something because this is the 3rd movie i have this problem with.

    The movie is Lord of the Rings: FOTR in 2 parts, maybe i need to paste the 2 parts together 1st somehow??

    Anyone else have had this problem please reply

    Thx Maarten

    Sounds like a codec problem to me

    Intermezzo ...................KILL angelpotion codec (it is a piece of S**T)

    Begin from scratch
    Uninstall every codec you have

    Install a codec pack (besides the right video codecs you will get the neccessary sound codecs for free )
    Install the 4.12 only when you come across a 4.02 or higher movie
    Install the SMR-patch (also not the best moviez but the alternativ is somewhat more work)

    When you play the movie in WMPlayer (6.4 ???) and select
    open ---> properties
    a new window pops up
    go to the advanced tab ---> highlite the videocodec (what does it say btw?) ---> properties and look at the sliders .........they should all be somewhere in the middle (or otherwise press "reset")
    and while you are at it ................ on the advanced tab what does it say for audio

    Let us know we dying to hear from you

      thx for the reply,

      i did what you suggested, but even with no codecs installed it played the file.... i'm using WMP 7.01 btw, in properties it said audiocodec: unkown and the sma for the audio, i now installed div-x 4.12bundle and the smr patch, but it is still the same....

            Which hex editor are you using?

            I've been looking for one that can handle DivX-sized files for quite some time now. I haven't yet been able to find one that allows FULL editing (including deleting portions and reducing filesize). I've found some that can handle large files, but will only permit byte modification - and I've found full-blown editors that will only handle small files.

            Thanks in advance for sharing the information ;>}

              its the hex editor included in vitualdub 1.8, a program to append or seperate divx files
