    Corrupted AVI Files! help!

    Hola everyone,

I recently tried to recover some avi files using a file recovery program. The program recovers the files, but when I try to play them the player says it is not an avi file. The files have the .avi extention, but I think they are incomplete or corrupted. Is there anyway to fix or view the files. I have tried windows media player, divx player, the playa. All of them say it is not an avi file. If someone can explain why this is, perhaps it's a problem with the file recovery, I would appreciate it. Or if anyone knows of a program that reads movie files and lets them be viewed, even if they are corrupted, that would be great as well. Thanks for you time.

If the file is accepted by VirtualDub go to "Video"...change it to "direct stream copy" and "check for errors." If virtual Dub refuses the file you might try NanDub or VirtualDubMod (in case it's an MPEG2 or something else.) BSPlayer is freeware, and often plays files WMP refuses to open.
