AVI 2 MPG Conversion

I want to convert 15fps AVI with 8 bit sound in MPG format (from Fuji F601 digicam video mode). I've tried a few of the available conversion applications.

They seem ok with the video conversion but either ignore the sound or play it too fast in the MPEG.

Can any of you clever folk out there help me?

Have you tried TMPGEnc?

I have TMPGEnc, but that does bot recognise the .AVI format that I have.

Note the video and sound are in the same file.
