    More TMPGEinc woes......

    Relative newbie.....
Just tying to convert an avi file toMpeg and keep getting the following error message!

'Write error occured at address 000c1e57 of module TMPGEen.exe with 00020008'
Any idea how to circumvent this and get it to work????

We're users. We don't have access to error message codes. Has TMPGenc ever worked on your system or is this the first time you've tried it?

Then there's probably something different with the avi's that give you the error. Open them in VirtualDub...under "video" tab select "direct stream copy" and hit "check for errors" and save. Then see if corrected avi will process in TMPGenc.

          Thanks for that...

While trying to open it in virtual dub I get the following:-

VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 3879 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptabable, decompress the entire audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress witha constant bitrate encoder

          HUH?

Your .AVI contains a Variable Bitrate .MP3 audiostream that TMPGEnc cannot process.

Converting .AVIs with VBR-MP3 Audio for use with TMPGEnc

Using VirtualDubMOD to Convert "VBR" .MP3 to Uncompressed .WAV

            1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDubMOD (a different program than the standard VirtualDub)

            2) From the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Direct Stream Copy"

            3) From the "Streams" dropdown menu, select "Stream List" - and rightclick on the audio stream, then select "Full Processing Mode" - then click on "OK"

            4) Save with a new filename

                "Ah That old chesnut!
                Ta!"

                If that means "thank you" - it's my pleasure ;>}

It did, however I am still getting the same error message (see first point!) when clicking on start (converting to mpeg!)

                  dodgy file?
